Let’s be honest, there are plenty of games where you’re dodging bullets, outrunning zombies, sneaking around like a ninja or screaming because something jumped out at you. Not here.
If you’re like me and you prefer the quiet thrill of taking something filthy and making it sparkling again, then you’ll love this. I’ve spent the weekend with PowerWash Simulator 2, and here’s a look at what’s new, and what that platinum hunt will look like. Grab your washer and a cuppa.. let’s get cleaning. ☕💦
What’s Fresh Under the Nozzle
If you’ve played the original, you know the joy of blasting grime away in your cosy little simulation bubble and now the sequel shows up with some serious gear upgrades and quality-of-life tweaks. Let’s go through what’s new.
Universal Soap & Dirt Banishing
- The soap is now universal: no more buying separate soap for each surface and refilling them when they run out. You do still run out (it’s not infinite), but having a universal soap is a nice improvement.
- Even better, the soap just works better. There are plenty of times you hit a stubborn patch of grime, give it a quick soapy spray, and boom, sparkling clean. It also looks more realistic now, with proper sudsy surfaces.
Gear & Equipment Updates
There have been some upgrades to the old equipment and there are a few shiny new toys to play with:
- Scaffolding overhaul: scaffolding now has ladders down either side for quicker access to the top, win!
- New cherry picker: to help reach those impossible spots without creative jet-jumping.
- Abseiling! Yes, really, bet you didn’t see that one coming. You can now clip onto frames, take a seat, and zip around like a professional cleaner on a mission. (Check out the video below to see how it works, it’s surprisingly fun.)
- New power washer: with special floor attachments (scrubber-type tool). I’ll be honest, I still prefer the regular washer but it’s a fun addition.
- Adaptable nozzle: tweak your spray by altering the spray width rather than swapping between fixed sizes. This was fun to play around with (and necessary if you’re on that trophy hunt).
Homebase and Cosmetics
You now have a home base to return to between jobs, complete with:
- Trophies from previous jobs (which also gives you access to free play mode)
- A map for taking on new contracts
- Furniture and décor you can buy and place and yes, you’ll need to wash them first!
UI & Control Tweaks
- Custom dirt-highlight colours: no more trying to spot yellow dirt on a yellow wall, a small but mighty fix.
- Cleanup assist: once you’re nearly done (aka reached 99%), the game tags the last few dirty spots and makes them flash. It’s such a time-saver and honestly one of my favourite new additions.
- Wash-list toggle: you can hide cleaned items and only see what’s left. Another neat quality-of-life upgrade.
Cats. Yes, Cats.
