In a slightly chaotic but exciting update, Red Dead Redemption has been added to November’s PS Plus Game Catalog lineup… but with a twist.
Although it appears in the November announcement, the game won’t be playable until 2 December, when Rockstar officially launches the new PS5 version. Yes, a native PS5 version is coming. And even better: anyone who already owns the PS4 version will receive a free upgrade to the PS5 release on launch day.
This new rollout is part of a wider re-release push, with the game also launching on Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and, surprisingly, Netflix Games for mobile. It’s not being pitched as a full remake, but rather a next-gen enhanced version with performance improvements, modern platform support, and quality-of-life upgrades across devices.
For PS Plus members, though, this means something very simple:

Why This Is a Big Deal?
Red Dead Redemption remains one of Rockstar’s most beloved stories, slower, richer, and more emotional than GTA. Decades later, it still holds up beautifully: the atmosphere, the music, the characters, and that unforgettable ending.
It’s the perfect chance to revisit John Marston’s journey, or to experience it for the first time on modern hardware. For trophy hunters, the platinum is notoriously tough: expect a mix of story challenges, difficult misc objectives, and time-consuming multiplayer requirements.
